AMD to supply Spartan 6 FPGAs until at least 2030

AMD announced that it will continue to supply Spartan 6 FPGAs until at least 2030.

AMD Spartan 6 FPGA extended life, programmable IC originally introduced in 2009. Spartan 6 devices, with their high IO-to-logic ratio in small packages, continue to be well suited for customers in the industrial, medical, vision and automotive markets, as well as other markets such as communications, which require simple bridging and customers in these segments need extended product , typically requiring a 15-year product life cycle, many of which are supported for much longer. So AMD’s support for Spartan 6 FPGAs will be extended through at least 2030, and all speed and temperature grades are included. Some customers are still using Spartan 6 in a variety of applications, are happy with the product, and don’t want to be forced to change their design. Therefore, AMD is ensuring product availability until at least 2030.

AMD is addressing recent supply chain issues with the aim of boosting customer confidence in its Xilinx lineup with formal supply commitments.

Late last year, AMD committed to at least 2035 supply of Xilinx 7 series FPGAs and SoCs, including all speed and temperature grades: Spartan-7, Artix-7, Kintex-7, Virtex-7 and Zynq-7000.
